Threadgill of sound mind and memory but in a low state of health, do make and ordain this my last will and testament as follows: Viz. First, I give and bequeath to my five beloved children, Harvey,Joseph, Calvin, Marshall, and Elener Threadgill eleven negroes by name Jesse, Jake, Zelphy, Tabb, Marget, Fanny, Carrie, Dolly, Charles, Lucy and Posey, to be equally divided when my son Harvey arrives at the age of twenty-one years, then their part to be equally divided between surviving children. I also give to my beloved Elener one feather bed and furniture with the bedsted and curtains to be given to her at the age of fourteen years. The residue of my property, my land, household property and stock of all kinds, my desire is that it should be sold and the amount arising from the sale after paying my just debts to be equally divided among my children above named. I appoint my beloved father, Thomas Threadgill and William Threadgill, my Executors to this my last Will and Testament. Threadgill ( seal ) In presence of: George Dunlap George Threadgill Will of Thomas Threadgill: In the name of God, Amen, I, Thomas Threadgill of the State of North Carolina, Anson County, being of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last Will and Testament viz. I lend unto my beloved wife Tabitha Threadgill all the lands I own in the County of Anson during her natural life and all my household and kitchen furniture and all my stock of horses, cattle and hogs, and all my plantation tools of every kind and description during her natural life. I also give to my beloved wife the following negroes, viz. Jane, Candis, Zilpha, Elijah, Jesse, Kisee, Toney, Adaline, Moses and Laura, to dispose of at her own discretion. 2nd. I give to my beloved son Patrick B. Threadgill the following negroes viz., Buck, Charles, Sarily and child Matilda, Judah and Jerry, to him and his heirs forever, and at the decease of my beloved wife, I give to my said son, Patrick B. Threadgill, the lands, stock of all kinds, tools of all kinds, with all the household and kitchen furniture to him and his heirs forever. 3rd. I give to my beloved son Hull Threadgill the following negro slaves to wit - Frank and Edwin and Dinah to him and his heirs forever. 4th. I give to my grandson Thomas Threadgill, son of Hull Threadgill, a negro boy named Will to him and his heirs forever. 5th. I guve and bequeath to my grandchildren viz. Temperance, Patrick, Kirby, Wade and Henry; children of my son Gideon B Threadgill, the sum of one hundred dollars each. 6th. I give and bequeath to my grandchildren Ellen, Marshall, Harvey, Joseph and Calvin Threadgill children of my son John C. Threadgill, the sum of four dollars each. 7th. I give and bequeath to my beloved son Thomas Threadgill the following negroes viz. Handy and Ralph to him and his heirs forever. 8th. I give and bequeath to my beloved son William Threadgill in addition to what I have heretofore done for him, one negro boy named Bob to him and his heirs forever. 9th. I give unto my beloved daughter Rebecca Barnawell the sum of twenty dollars in addition to what I have heretofore done for her. 10th. My beloved duaghters Lucy Kimbrough, nancy Boggan and Jane Dumas being provided for in another way they are therefore excluded from any further portion of my estate. 11th. I hereby nominate and appoint my son Patrick B. Threadgill sole executor of this my last Will and Testament. Allen Superior court of Law, September Term 1841, Anson County, North Carolina Whereas at the present term of our said Court a cause came up for hearing in the name of Patrick B. Threadgill, Executor, in support of the last Will and Testament of Thomas Threadgill decd. against Benjamin Barnawell and wife Rebecca Thomas Threadgill, Zilpha Threadgill, guardian of Temperance Threadgill, Patrick Threadgill, William K. Threadgill, Wade Threadgill and Henry Threadgill. Upon the issue of Devisant veleron: Whereupon the following jurors were sworn and empaneled to try the issue to wit; William Hooker, John W McLendon, Joel Harris, Benjamin T. Douglass, William Perry, Isaac Curtis, Tolly K. Manas, James S. Turner, Nathaniel Beven, William Nash, Owen Pope, and Jesse Cox, who rendered their verdict as follows: To wit - Who find the paper writing, which is hereunto annexed, to be the last Will and Testament of Thomas Threadgill, decd., but the paper writing purporting to be a codicil, not a codicil or part of the last Will and Testament of said Thomas Threadgill decd. Patrick B. Threadgill came unto Court and qualified as Executor to the last Will and Testament of Thomas Threadgill decd. Ordered by the Court that the proceeding in this case be transmitted to the County Court of Anson County, together with the original will. In testimony whereof that the aforegoing is a true and perfect exemplification of the record in the foregoing case, I, Calvin Myers, Clerk of the aforesaid Superior Court of law for Anson County, have hereunto subscribed my name and affixed the seal of said court at office the 2nd Monday in September A.D. 1841. /s/ C. Myers, Clerk October Term 1842 Thus the above will and proceedings had in the Superior Court of Law for Anson County was returned into the Court of said County, and ordered to be recorded. /s/ N. D. Boggan Will of William Threadgill: In the name of God, Amen, I William Threadgill of North Carolina, Planter,Rovocking (sic) all others apoint (sic) this to be my last Will and Testament. 1. I give to my beloved wife one hoarse called Brutus, my chir and harnis, one fether bed and furniture, one cow and calf, tow ewes and lams,two sows and pigs. 2. I lend to my wife the use of my land and plantation stock of every kind, my plantation tools during her life or to the end of her widowhood, also four negroes Sam, Chere, Treen, and Dick, and the aforesaid Dick to remain as a loan until my grandson Samuel Kendall arive to age of twenty years and then I give him the negro Dick, to him the said Samuel. 3. I give to my grandson William Kendall one hundred and seventy eight acres of the above mentioned land to be laid off at the head of Preslar's Creek joining Watsons and Lunsfords lines. 4. I give to my only duaghter Sophia I. Threadgill all the above mentioned property to wit my land, plantation tools, stock of every kind and all my household furniture and the negros to wit Sam, Cherey and Treeny; Dick excepted, and the hundred and seventy eight acres of land excepted, and all the above given to daughter to remain in the hands of her mother as long as she remains a widow - those periods she may take one half of the above mentioned property to her own use. Nevertheless, if my daughter who is now an infant should dye before she maries or arive to the age of twenty one years, if shuch a thing should happen, my desire is after wife's death that the land left to her should be equally divided between my tow grandsons William and samuel Kendall and the rest of my property if any remaining should be equally divided among my grandchildren, Lucy Dixson excepted.
