Graybeal krgrebiel@verizon.net September 11, 2010, 8:52 pm Written: March 9, 1810 Recorded: 1902 Note: Based on the geographical references given in the deed, i.e., Old Field Creek, Big Horse Creek, waters of North Fork New River, this tract would be just about where the town of Lansing is today. Peter later sold it to hs son David. (see deed TT, page 241). Based on the verbage at the bottom of both deeds they apparently were found among David's papers or personal effects many years later and registered in 1902. Copied by Kyle R. Register of Deeds Book SS, p. 200 John Hall to Peter[Sr] Graybeal This indenture made this ninth day of March in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ten between John Hall of the one part and Peter Graybeal of the other part both of the County of Ashe and State of North Carolina, the sd John Hall witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred dollars good and lawful money of the state afore sd [sic], to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he doth acknowledge and him self fully satisfied and paid hath and by these presents doth bargain sell convey and confirm unto the sd Peter Graybeal a certain tract or parcel of land containing one hundred acres of land be the same more or less Lying and being in the County afore sd on Old Field Creek, the waters of Big Horse Creek, the waters of the North [Fork] of New River. Beginning at a red oak on a ridge running East one hundred and thirty three poles to a red oak on a ridge, then south one hundred and twenty [poles] to a stake, then west one hundred and thirty three poles to a stake, then to first station. Together with all woods, waters, mines, minerals, hereditaments and appurtenances to the said land belonging or in any wise appertaining. To have and to hold to him the said Peter Graybeal, his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Hall doth covenant and agree that he the said Peter Graybeal, his heirs and assigns shall at all times forever here after lawfully and peaceably possess and enjoy the said bargained, granted premises free and clear of all incumbrances or claims whatsoever under him or them, In testimony whereof the sd John Hall hath here unto set his hand and affixed his seal this day and date above written. Signed sealed and delivered in the presence of us Test. Henry Graybeal his Jesse (x) Hall John(x) Hall mark Personally appeared before me A. S. Eller Clerk of the Superior Court for Ashe County, North Carolina T. J. Jones, the holder of the attached deed of conveyance who being sworn states that John Hall, the Grantor and Henry Graybeal the subscribing witness are both dead, that he is unable to prove the hand writing of either.
