MINNIE HOWELL 

SPRUCE PINE - Minnie Howell, 89, died Sunday, Jan. 21, 2007 in of the 
Kingsbridge Assisted Living facility in Brevard. Born in Ashe County, she was 
the daughter of the late Ed and Sarah Goodman, and wife of the late Don 
Howell. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Dwight and Don Ray Howell, 
and 10 sisters and brothers. She and her husband owned and operated Spruce 
Pine Cleaners for several years. She was also a charter member of First 
Baptist Church of Spruce Pine.

Survivors include a brother, Calvin Coolidge Goodman of Bristol, Tenn.; four 
grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at noon Tuesday at First Baptist Church of Spruce 
Pine. Rev. David Vess officiated. Burial followed in Spruce Pine Memorial 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 11 a.m. until the service hour 
Tuesday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to the First Baptist 
Church building fund, or to Transylvania Hospice in Brevard. Webb Funeral Home 
in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
