Born in Ashe County, she was the daughter of the late Gordon Henry and Zilpha Ellen Osborne Farmer, and wife of the late David Earl King. She was very active in the Democratic party. Survivors include one daughter, Wanda Thompson of West Jefferson; two sons, Guy Osborne King and Jimie King, both of Bakersville; two sisters, Danford Hodge of Blountville, Tenn., and Irene Vance of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Entombment was in Spruce Pine Memorial Cemetery. The family received friends from 2 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the funeral home.
