The Avery Advocate - Sept 26 1928
Mr. and Mrs. S.A. Carpenter were called to Elizabethton last Wednesday to take 
care of their daughter, Mrs. John Benfield, who died in the hospital there.  
They brought her body here, also her four children, and wired her husband who 
is in Montana, the body was kept until Sunday awaiting a telegram reply and 
when it came he could not come.  She was laid to rest n the Benfield cemetery 
Sunday evening at two o’clock.  Rev. Franklin McCoy attending to the funeral 
service.  The bereaved have our sympathy.
