Final Rites For Dr. Bridges
	Scores of friends from Newland drove to Statesville last Thursday where 
they attended funeral services for Dr. D.P. Bridges who passed away at his home 
in Newland Tuesday morning Sep. 16.  Services were held from the First Baptist 
church at Statesville.
	Rev. L.M. Deaton, assisted by the pastor of the Statesville church 
conducted the last rites.
	Masses of flowers covered the casket and attested the love and esteem 
with which Dr. Bridgen is regarded throughout this and other states.
	Among those who attended from Newland were: Prof. R.T. Teague, Mr. R.A. 
Shomaker, Rev. and Mrs. L.M. Deaton, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Eller, Miss Johnsie 
Covington, Miss Alta Zacchary and Miss Julia Scar borough.  
	Mrs. Bridges will continue to make her home in Newland.
