JOHNIE ARVIL BUCHANAN 

WATAUGA, TN - Johnie Arvil Buchanan, 71, of Persinger Drive, died Wednesday, 
July 5, 2006 at his home. A native of Avery County, he spent most of his life 
in Burnsville and was the son of the late Arvil and Margaret Hoilman Buchanan. 
He was also preceded in death by a son, Ricky Buchanan; a daughter, Loretta 
Buchanan; two sisters, Nellie Hoilman and Cordelia Riddle; and two brothers, 
Willard and Jack Buchanan. He was a self-employed farmer.

Survivors include four sons, John, Kevin, Mark and Roy Buchanan, all of 
Johnson City, TN; a daughter, Norma Bowman of Watauga; 11 grandchildren; and 
several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services were held at 2:30 p.m. July 7, in Robinson Cemetery in the 
Red Hill community. The family received friends from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday at 
the funeral home. Woodall-Anderson and Dugger Funeral Home was in charge of 
arrangements.
