WILLA MAE BUCHANAN 

BAKERSVILLE - Willa Mae Buchanan died September 6, 2007 in Spruce Pine 
Community Hospital. A native of Newland, she was the daughter of the late 
Spurgeon and Artie Bell Johnson Greene. She was also preceded in death by 
brothers, Johnny, Donald and Joe Greene; and a sister, Barbara Ann Duncan. She 
was a member of Victory Baptist Church in Bakersville and enjoyed gardening 
and working with her flowers.

Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Ronald Buchanan of the home; a son, 
Ronnie Buchanan of Bakersville; a daughter, Rhonda Kay Houston of Bakersville; 
sisters, Martha Hicks of Elk Park, and Juanita Vance of Minneapolis; a 
brother, Gary Greene of Newland; two grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and 
several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at noon Saturday at Belview Baptist Church. The 
Rev. Doug Bare and Skip Weiford officiated. Burial followed in Cranberry 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the church. 
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Newland assisted the family.
