LOUISE P. BURLESON 

NEWLAND - Louise P. Burleson, 88, of Henson Creek Road, died Friday, Feb.16, 
at Cannon Memorial Hospital in Linville. She was the daughter of the late Ada 
Hughes and William Claude Pitman, and wife of the late Earl J. Burleson. She 
was also preceded in death by a son, George E. Burleson; a sister, Virginia 
Clarice Kennybrook; and a brother, William Claude Pitman, Jr. She was a member 
and Sunday School teacher at Walnut Grove Presbyterian Church.

Survivors include two daughters: Flora Ann Boone of the home, and Margaret 
Sprinkle of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; three grandchildren; and three great-
grandchildren. 

Funeral Services were held at 8 p.m. Monday at Walnut Grove Presbyterian 
Church on Buck Hill Road. The Revs. Jim Huskins and Wallace Wise officiated. 
Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday in Yellow Mountain Cemetery in 
Plumtree. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour 
Monday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Walnut Grove 
Presbyterian Church, Bill Wilkins Scholarship Fund, c/o Mrs. Darrell 
Singleton, P.O. Box 56, Linville Falls, NC 28647. Yancey Funeral Services of 
Burnsville assisted the family.
