RUTH BUCHANAN
NEWLAND – Ruth Buchanan, of Homestead Lane, died Friday, July 5, 
2002 in a Spruce Pine rest home. She was the daughter of the late Aaron 
and Lee Ella Buchanan Snyder. She was a member of Henson Creek Baptist 
Church.
Survivors include her husband, Lane Buchanan of the home; daughter, 
Sandra Stamey of Nebo, Charlene Byrd of Bakersville, Vicki Robinson of 
Micaville, Marian Buchanan of Newland and Regina Farmer of Burnsville; 
sons, Gary and Terry Buchanan of Spruce Pine and Marshall Buchanan of 
Newland; a sister, Jeannie Lee Robertson of Tobaccoville, a brother, 
Phillip Snyder of Spruce Pine; 12 grandchildren; and six great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Steve Williams and Larry 
Greene officiated. Burial was in Yellow Mountain Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1:30 p.m. until the service hour Sunday at the 
funeral home.
