DOROTHY GRINDSTAFF BUCHANAN

NEWLAND - Dorothy Grindstaff Buchanan, 87, of the Birchfield Creek 
community, died Monday, July 7, 2003 at the Life Care Center in Banner 
Elk. She was the daughter of the late Dock and Nellie Gribble Grindstaff, 
and wife of the late Fred E. Buchanan. She was also preceded in death by 
one daughter, two sons, three brothers and two sisters. She was a member 
of Minneapolis Baptist Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Isaacs of Newland; a son, Harold 
Buchanan of Birchfield Creek; sisters, Opal Riddle of Hickory, Myrtle 
Gouge of Icard, and Ruby Buchanan of Amherst; a brother, Herbert Grindstaff 
of Lorain; seven grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and six great 
great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Junior Carver officiated. 
Burial was at 9 a.m. Thursday in Buchanan Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the funeral home.
