NEWLAND - Binia K. Buchanan, 85, of Wes Jones Road, died Sunday, 
Aug. 29, 2004 in a Banner Elk health care facility. She was the 
daugher of the late Dicie McKinney. She was retired from Tar Heel 
Mica and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband, Milton Buchanan of the home; two 
daughters, Hazel Vance of Newland, and Norma Jean Puckett of Banner 
Elk; three grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; and several nieces 
and nephews. 
Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Ron Greene officiated. 
Burial was at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Yellow Mountain Cemtery. The family 
received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Monday at the funeral 
home. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Avery County, P.O. Box
