LEWIS BRASWELL INGALLS – Rev. Lewis Braswell, 73, died Wednesday, February 27, 2002, following an extended illness. He was the son of the late Bert and Mae Church Braswell. An evangelist and pastor for 41 years, he was retired from Henredon Furniture and was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. Survivors include his wife, Irene Fletcher Braswell; sons, Floyd Braswell of Bakersville, and Wayne and Kenneth Braswell of Spruce Pine; daughters, Vanessa Redish of Jonas Ridge, Martha Braswell of the home, Sharon Braswell of Spruce Pine and Wanda Cooper of Burnsville; sisters Ruth Holden and Mary Church, both of Newland, Edna Martin of Pineola, and twin sister Lucille Poteet of Morganton; 13 grandchildren; and three great grandchildren. A celebration/homecoming service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Howard Riddle, Pauline Riddle, Eugene Moore and Scotty Jenkins officiated. Burial was in Newland Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
