VIRGINIA CANTRELL 

NEWLAND - Virginia Cantrell, 78, died Thursday, April 20, 2006 at her home. She 
was the daughter of the late Rev. Fred and Buina Beam, and wife of the late 
Floyd Cantrell. She was a member of Crab Orchard Freewill Baptist Church and 
worked as an LPN at Cannon Hospital for many years.

Survivors include three daughters, Carolyn Cantrell of the home, Roma Cantrell 
of Powdermill, and Sheila Ferguson of Roan Mountain; two sons, Jerry Cantrell 
of Minneapolis, and Wendell Cantrell of Powdermill; and four grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Grindstaff Memorial 
Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. James Ballew and Steve Beam 
officiated. Burial was in Yellow Mountain Cemetery. The family received friends 
from 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
