    Mrs. Yvonne Patterson Chappell, 72, 131 Pleasant Beach Road, Elizabethton, 
went to be with her beloved husband and her Lord on Monday, March 10, 2008, at 
Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. 


    A native of Avery County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Walter 
and Pantha Buchanan Patterson. 


    Mrs. Chappell was a member of Pleasant Beach Baptist Church and was a 
homemaker. 


    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, 
Lloyd Chappell, a sister, Mildred Taylor, and three brothers, Jack Patterson, 
Paul Patterson and Ben Patterson. 


    Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Paula and Aaron 
Holderness, Gray, and Deloris and Greg Tester, Elizabethton; two sons and 
daughters-in-law, Tommy and Angie Chappell and Rickey and Jennifer Chappell, 
all of Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren, Delia Taylor, Gregory Tester II, Layla 
Blevins, Jonathan Gentry, Joshua Tester, Jerry Chappell, Jessica Chappell, 
Amanda Chappell, Rikki Chappell and Hannah Chappell; four step-grandchildren, 
Trey Dennis, Jenipher Dennis, Jessica Holderness and Chrystal Holderness; six 
great-grandchildren; a brother, John Patterson, Elizabethton; and a sister, 
Roncella King, Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. 


    The funeral service for Mrs. Chappell will be conducted at 2 p.m. 
Thursday, March 13, in the Riverside Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, 
Elizabethton, with Rev. Bobby Stout officiating. Music will be under the 
direction of Geraldine Younce and the Pleasant Beach Quartet. Interment will 
follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Jerry Ray, 
Gregory Tester II, Joshua Tester, Mark Taylor, Dennis Patterson, Johnnie 
Patterson and Tommy Patterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Aaron Holderness, 
Tim Street, Frank Gwinn, Horton Taylor, Nobel McNeal, Phil White and Geoff 
James. The family will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 5 to 7 
p.m. Wednesday, March 12, and at the residence, 131 Pleasant Beach Road, at 
other times. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her 
nurses, Natalie, Alana, Liz and Pat, for their loving care of Mrs. Chappell.
