Church Floyd R. "Bill" Church, 77, of Hermitage Health Center, Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 17, 2008, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital. A native of Avery County, N.C., he was the son of the late William Henry and Reatha Walsh Church. Mr. Church retired after 30 years of service from Raytheon, working in the missile systems division. He was a member of Grace Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Betty Jane Scalf Church, his second wife, Pauline Grindstaff Church, and a brother James Clifford Church. Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Bill Childress and Vicky and Tim Brummitt, all of Elizabethton; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a brother and sister-in-law, George and Ruth Church, Hampton. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mr. Church will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday, May 19, in the Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel of Peace with Rev. Chris Hughes officiating. Music will be under the direction of Suzanne Johnson. The family will receive friends in the funeral chapel from 1 to 2 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Interment will follow the service at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be deacons and former deacons of Grace Baptist Church. Those who prefer memorials in lieu of flowers may make donations to Grace Baptist Church Building Fund, 1114 Broad Street, Elizabethton, TN 37643.
