AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Edgar W. Calhoun, 4 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Edgar W. Calhoun CANTON, Ohio -- Edgar W. Calhoun, 82, of Canton, died Thursday, November 4, 2004, at his home. Edgar was born in Newland, N.C., to the late Roy and Oma Calhoun and was a Canton resident since 1953. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister. Edgar retired from the Timken Company in 1981 after 28 years of service. He was a member of Central Baptist Church and a WWII Navy veteran. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Myrtle R. Calhoun; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and James T. Sanderson, Navarre; a son and daughter- in-law, Charles and Evelyn Calhoun, Massillon; four grandchildren, Jeffery Calhoun, Deerfield, Ill., Kristen Prough, Akron, Jennifer Schoen and James J. Sanderson, both of Canton; seven great-grandchildren, Michael Prough, Johnathan and Joshua Schoen and Kyle, Mariah, Luke and Isaac Sanderson; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Raymond and Pearl Calhoun, Hampton, Tenn., Russell and June Calhoun, Athens, Ga., Harvey Calhoun, Akron, and John Calhoun, Hampton, Tenn.; a sister, Shelby Jean Carroll, Hampton, Tenn.; and his stepmother, Ethel Calhoun, Hampton, Tenn. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday, November 8, at Central Baptist Church with Pastor Randy Newcomer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Hills Burial Park. Friends may call at Kreighbaum-Sanders Funeral Home, South Cleveland Avenue, Canton, from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday. Friends may also call from 9 until 10 a.m. Monday, prior to the services at the church. Donations in Edgar's memory may be made to Central Baptist Church Missions Fund, 4736 Tuscarawas Street, W.
