Davis Mr. John F. Davis died Wednesday Evening, September 15th, at the age of 79 years, 9 months and 20 days and was buried in the Banner cemetery Friday afternoon, Cranberry Lodge of Masons conducting the ceremonies, with a service at the Methodist church, of which he was a member, by Rev. M.A. Lewis, assisted by Rev. Semones. The deceased was born Jan. 30, 1849, and on July 14, 1869, was married to Pattie Banner, who survives him. To this union was born seven children, three of whom died in infancy leaving still living Mrs. Nellie Teaster, Mrs. Pattie Oaks, Mrs. Sallie Brinkley and Mrs. Estelle Campbell. Besides these, grand children and great grand children grieve over his death and the people of the entire section regret the loss of a good neighbor, a splendid citizen and an upright man. The deceased joined the Methodist church in his early years and is a Mason of long standing. He has been postmaster, magistrate and notary public, having filled one or more of these positions continuosly for many years. The services were conducted by Cranberry Lodge, A.F.A.A.M., assisted by Bro. Robert Augell, of Pineola, and other visiting brothers, and a large congregation of surviving relatives and friends gathered at the church and fellowed the remains to the cemetery to show their respect and pay their last tribute to his memory.
