Callie C. Eller 


    NEWLAND, N.C. -- Callie Collins Eller, 84, of Ice Plant Street, Elk Park, 
died Saturday, March 4, 2006, at Canon Memorial Hospital in Linville. 


    Mrs. Eller was a native of Avery County and a daughter of the late Charlie 
and Belle Dishman Hopson. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death 
by her husband, Arthur Collins. 


    Mrs. Eller was a member of Little Elk Mountain Free Will Baptist Church and 
had worked for Vaughn's Nursery and in the kitchen at Cannon Memorial Hospital. 
She enjoyed sewing and working in flowers. 


    Survivors include her daughters, Tena Davis Brinkley and her husband Steve 
of Elk Park, Joan Waycaster of Roan Mountain, Tenn., and Connie Morton and her 
husband Michael of Elk Park; and her sons, Carroll Collins of Elk Park, Don 
Collins and his wife Mary Ellen of Laurens, S.C., and Charles Calhoun and his 
wife Vickie of Elk Park. Nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren also 
survive. 


    Funeral services for Mrs. Eller were conducted at 8 p.m. Sunday, March 5, 
from the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim 
Storey officiating. The family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service 
hour Sunday evening at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment were 
held at 11 a.m. Monday, March 6, in the Elk Park Cemetery. Condolences may be
