AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Sallie Elliott, 20 Dec 2003

Mrs. Sallie Elliott, age 85, of Bluegrass Road, Roan Mountain, 
died Saturday, December 20, 2003 at her residence following an 
extended illness. 
Mrs. Elliott was a native of Avery County, North Carolina and a 
daughter of the late Charlie and Belle Dishman Hopson. 
She was a homemaker. 
She was preceded in death by four sons, Wayne Elliott, Claude Elliott, 
Jim Elliott and Paul Elliott; by one daughter, Frankie Lee Elliott, 
and by several brothers and sisters. 
Survivors include one daughter, Edith Greene, of Roan Mountain; one 
son, Ernest Elliott, of Roan Mountain; eight grandchildren; thirteen 
great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one sister, 
Callie Eller, of Elk Park, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews 
also survive. 
Funeral services for Mrs. Sallie Elliott will be conducted at 8 p.m. 
Monday, December 22, 2003 at the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain 
with Rev. Jim Storie officiating. Music will be by the St. John's Free 
Will Baptist Church Youth Group. Graveside services and interment will 
be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 23, 2003 at the Blackwell 
Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Brian Elliott, John Harrison, 
Josh Harrison, Josh Brown, Eddie Shook and Tony Stevens. Honorary 
pallbearers will be Plez Potter, Crawford Potter and Al Bono. The 
family will receive friends at the Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain 
from 6 until 8 p.m. Monday, prior to the service. Friends may call at 
the residence, Bluegrass Road, Roan Mountain, at any time. Everyone 
will meet at the cemetery at 1:50 p.m. Tuesday for the graveside service.
