Rev. D.R. Kilgore of Bristol, Tenn., and K.L. Haga of Montezuma conducted the services assisted by Rev. D.W. Haga and Rev. R.P. Jones. The combined choirs of the three churches in town rendered the music. An audience that over flowed the church auditorium was present and a large floral contribution covered the casket. Mr. Franklin had been sick for several months but had not been confined to his room until recently. He was one of the oldest citizens of Montezuma and one of the pioneer members of the Aaron Baptist Church. He had been one of the trustees and Deacons in the church for many years and had always taken a great interest in the work of the church. He leaves the following relatives who were present at the funeral service, four sons; John, Everett, Park, of Montezuma, Kelay of Johnson City; four daughters Mrs. Walter Ledford, Mrs. Ernest Loven, Miss Pearl of Montezuma, and Mrs. Will Matney of Washington state, his wife and one sister Mrs. Mary Clark of Montezuma. He was buried in the Montezuma cemetery. He leaves a large number of other relatives and friends.
