PEARL HOLTSCLAW FREEMAN

NEWLAND – Pearl Holtsclaw Freeman, 89, of Wes Jones Road, died Sunday, 
November 18, 2001 in Spruce Pine Community Hospital. She was the daughter of 
the late Mack and Dollie Ashley Holtsclaw, and wife of the late Jessie 
Freeman. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maude Powell, and 
brothers, Waits and Finley Holtsclaw. She was a member of Powdermill Baptist 
Church.
Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Warren of Morganton; sons, Bill 
Freeman of Morganton, Jimmy Freeman of Newland, Junior Freeman of Bakersville, 
and Walter Freeman of Elk Park; sister, Ruby Freeman of Minneapolis; brothers, 
Horton Holtsclaw of Minneapolis, and Don Holtsclaw of Newland; five 
grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powdermill Baptist Church. 
Revs. Harold Dellinger and Jimmy Upton officiated. Burial was in Minneapolis 
Presbyterian Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
