She was the daughter of the late Mack and Dollie Ashley Holtsclaw, and wife of the late Jessie Freeman. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Maude Powell, and brothers, Waits and Finley Holtsclaw. She was a member of Powdermill Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughter, Shirley Warren of Morganton; sons, Bill Freeman of Morganton, Jimmy Freeman of Newland, Junior Freeman of Bakersville, and Walter Freeman of Elk Park; sister, Ruby Freeman of Minneapolis; brothers, Horton Holtsclaw of Minneapolis, and Don Holtsclaw of Newland; five grandchildren; and five great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Powdermill Baptist Church. Revs. Harold Dellinger and Jimmy Upton officiated. Burial was in Minneapolis Presbyterian Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
