Guy, 42 died at the home of her brother C.B. Landis in Marion Tuesday afternoon. Realizing that she was unable to overcome the lingering sure death which had been her lot for the last year, Mrs. Guy was beloved by her friends and acquaintances because of her cheerful mien. At her bedside at the time of her death were her husband, E.C. guy, cashier of the Avery county bank and the oldest of her seven children. The children are Margaret Edwin, Robert, Martha, Jane, Nancy and Dorothy. Funeral services were held Thursday morning from the home of the brother of the deceased in Marion and interment followed in the Oak Grove cemetery. Rev. J.C. Storey, pastor of the first Presbyterian church officiated assisted by Rev. Howard Powell. The services were largely attended by relatives and friends of Marion and a host of friends from Newland. Mrs. Guy was a native of Marion and was educated at the Marion high school and the Greensboro college. While a student at the Marion high school she was voted as the prettiest girl in the high school. In addition to her husband and children, the deceased is survived by her father and mother Mr. and Mrs. W.E. Landis of Marion and one brother C.B. Landis of Marion. Mrs. Guy became seriously ill about a year ago and a short time later underwent an operation. She did not entirely recover and several months ago the same malady took a stronger hold. After spending some time in a Charlotte hospital she was taken to Baltimore for radium treatment, where doctors announced that her case was hopeless. She then returned to the home of her brother where she was constantly under medical care. She became desperately ill Saturday night and on Tuesday morning a call was sent to Newland to have the children brought to her bed side. The end came a short time later.
