AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Carrie Lee Pyatt Gouge, 18 Nov 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- CARRIE LEE PYATT GOUGE BURNSVILLE - Carrie Lee Pyatt Gouge, 103, of Hwy. 80 South, died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2003 at her home. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Delzie Mace Ollis, and wife of the late Chesley Pyatt and the late Elzie Gouge. She was also preceded in death by four daughters and two sons. She was a member of Silver Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include her daughters, Savanna Shuford, Gloria Stewart and Frances Creson, all of Burnsville, Naomi Hensley and Vestina Buchanan, both of Marion, and Marilyn Parsons of Newland; a son, Joe Gouge of Fredrick, MD; 18 grandchildren; 29 great grandchildren; and 13 great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Revs. Vernon Buchanan, Calvin Vance and Calvin Stewart officiated. Burial was in Silver Chapel Cemetery. The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
