LILLIE GREENE

MARION – Lillie Greene, 87, of Miller Avenue, died Friday, June 1, 2001 in 
McDowell Nursing Center after an extended illness. A native of Avery County, 
she was the daughter of the late Chester and Mary Hughes Greene. She was a 
homemaker and attended Grandview Baptist Church.

Survivors include one daughter, Mary Wyatt of Marion; one brother, Reuben 
Greene of Newland; three grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and several 
nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Charles Dicks officiated. Burial was 
in the Hughes Cemetery. The family received friends one hour prior to the 
service.
