ISAAC GOLDMAN HUGHES 

SPRUCE PINE - Isaac Goldman Hughes, 73, of Little Rock Lane, died Tuesday, 
Jan. 23, 2007 in the Brian Center. A lifelong resident of Avery County, he was 
the son of the late Dewey and Flossie Woody Hughes. He was a member of 
Fairview Baptist Church and was retired from Harris Mining Company. He was 
also a farmer and a carpenter.

Survivors include his wife, Ollie Grindstaff Hughes of the home; a son, Kenny 
Hughes of Ingalls; a daughter, Jewel McPeters of Marion; a brother, Garfield 
Hughes of Ingalls; two sisters, Thelma Cook of Dysartsville, and Melba Carroll 
of Valdese; one granddaughter; and two great grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Fairview Baptist Church. Rev. 
Matt Wilson officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Thursday at the church. 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
