Merle G. Humphrey 


    Merle Guy Humphrey, 82, East 24th Street, Ashtabula, Ohio, died 
unexpectedly Sunday, May 7, 2006, at her home. 


    Born January 23, 1924 in Avery County, N.C., she was a daughter of the 
late John G. and Lucy Greene Guy. In addition to her parents, she was preceded 
in death by her husband, Ira, in 1984, two sisters, Doris Lovelace and Clara 
Newport, and a brother, John Guy. 


    Mrs. Humphrey was raised in Elizabethton and was a resident of Ashtubula 
since 1952. She worked for 29 years as a finisher for Molder Fiber Glass and 
Rockwell before retiring in 1984. She enjoyed her grandchildren and playing 
bingo with her friends. 


    Survivors include four children, Wanda Jane Heath, Twinsburg, Ohio, Penny 
Lee Keener, Madison, Ohio, twins Frances K. Welker and Robert Ray Humphrey, 
both of Ashtabula, Ohio; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and three 
sisters, Joanne Williams, Washington, N.C., Virginia McQueen, Elizabethton, 
and Gladys Graley, Ashtabula, Ohio. 


    A service was held May 10, 2006 in Ashtubula.
