Elizabeth F. Hicks

Elizabeth Fields Hicks, 83, Miles Fields Road, Elk Park, N.C., 
died Monday, March 3, 2003 at Cannon Memorial Hospital following an 
extended illness.
A native of Avery County, N.C., she was the daughter of the late Miles 
and Flora Ann Hicks Fields. She was a homemaker. She was a member of 
the Church of Jesus Christ, Apostolic faith. 
Mrs. Hicks was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Paul Hicks; a 
grandson, Brian Stacey McKinney, six brothers and six sisters.
Survivors include three daughters and sons-in-law, Elwanda and Elisha 
Garland, Brenda and Charles McKinney, all of Roan Mountain; Kay and 
Chris Hogan, Elk Park, N.C.; four sons and daughters-in-law, Leon and 
Doris Hicks, Arnold and Sharon Hicks, Carroll and Peggy Hicks, Jerry 
Dean and Patty Hicks, all of Elk Park, N.C.; 14 grandchildren; 12 great 
grandchildren; one sister, Edna Baldwin, Banner Elk, N.C.; three 
sisters-in-law, Ruby Fields, Roan Mountain; Texie Fields, Jonesborough; 
Mina Hagie, Elizabethton, and one brother-in-law, Clarence Gwyn, 
Elizabethton. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

HICKS -- The funeral service for Elizabeth Fields Hicks, 83, Miles 
Fields Road, Elk Park, N.C., who died Monday, March 3, 2003, will be 
conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 5, 2003 at the Church of Jesus 
Christ of Newland, N.C. with Rev. Charles McKinney, Rev. Dave Atkins, 
Rev. Chris McCoury, and Rev. Jonathan Atkins officiating. Music will be 
under the direction of Aaron McKinney, grandson. Interment will follow 
the funeral service at Richardson Cemetery, Elk Park, N.C. Active 
pallbearers will be Tommy Hicks, Jeff Hicks, Aaron McKinney, Roger Hicks, 
Jason Hicks, Jeremy Hicks, Casey Hartley, and Caleb Hogan. The family 
will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 4, 2003 at Tetrick 
Funeral Home Rhododendron Chapel, Roan Mountain, or friends may call
