HALLIE INGRAM 

NEWLAND – Halie Ingram, 93, of Little Buck Hill Road, died Thursday, April 26, 
2001 in a Linville hospital. She was the daughter of the late Don and Mary 
Pyatt Benfield, and wife of the late Gilroy Ingram. She was preceded in death 
by two sons, Max and Ben Ingram. 
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Lee Stout of Charlotte, Martha Fisher 
and Mildred Pritchard, both of Newland, and Jean Waddell of Asheville; a son, 
Bill Ingram of Newland; a sister, Hazel Cornette of Crossnore; 17  
grandchildren; and several great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Walnut Grove Presbyterian 
Church, where she was a member. Revs. Wallace Wise, Luther Carver and Ken 
Lance officiated. Burial was in the Pyatte Cemetery. The family received 
friends from 12 p.m. until the service hour at the church. Webb Funeral Home 
in Spruce Pine was in charge of arrangements.
