VINA KING 

NEWLAND - Vina King, 70, of the Roaring Creek community, died Monday, Feb. 26, 
2007 at her home. She was the daughter of the late Stokes and Oakie Hughes 
King. She was a member of The Peoples Church on Roaring Creek.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon Pitts of Plumtree, and Shirley Crudup 
of Madison; two sisters, Vird Burleson and Vonda Buchanan, both of Newland; a 
brother, Bruce King of Elk Park; and 10 grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p. m. Thursday at The Peoples Church on 
Roaring Creek. The Revs. Chris Nance and Daniel Nance officiated. Graveside 
services were held at 11 a. m. Friday in Lower Hughes Cemetery on Roaring 
Creek. The family received friends from 6:30 p.m. until the service hour 
Thursday at the church. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Avery 
County, P.O. Box 1357, Newland, NC 28657. Yancey Funeral Service assisted the 
family.
