William E. Mann 


    Mr. William E. (Jack) Mann, 81, formerly of 1214 Broad Street Ext., 
Elizabethton, died Saturday, May 19, 2007, in the Life Care Center of 
Elizabethton following an extended illness. 


    Mr. Mann was the son of the late Coy and Grace Church Mann and was a 
native of Avery County, NC, but had lived most of his life in Carter County. 
Mr. Mann attended Milligan College and Steed College. He was a member of 
Stoney Creek Baptist Church, where he had served as the treasurer for 38 
years. He retired from Univac/Unisys Corporation after 25 years of service. 
Mr. Mann had been a member of Dashiell Masonic Lodge F&AM #238 for 53 years 
and a member of the Eastern Star #163. He was a veteran of the US Navy, having 
served in WWII. 


    In addition to his parents, Mr. Mann was preceded in death by two sisters, 
Wanda Mann Culbert and Dorothy Mae Mann. 


    Mr. Mann is survived by his wife, Edna Tidwell Mann of the home; two 
daughters and a son-in-law, Sherry K. and Conn Nave, Elizabethton, and Tracie 
A. Mann, Johnson City; a niece, Janice Culbert Stout, Johnson City; and a 
nephew and spouse, Mike and Helga Culbert, Bristol, TN. 


    A Celebration of Life Service for Mr. Mann will be conducted at 3:00 P. M. 
Monday, May 21, 2007, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home, 
Elizabethton with Dr. Kenneth Jordan officiating. Music will be under the 
direction of Mrs. Betty Carrier. The committal and entombment service will 
follow in the Mausoleum of Peace at Happy Valley Memorial Park with Rev. 
Richard Estep officiating. The family will receive friends Monday in the 
funeral home chapel from 1:30-3:00 P. M. prior to the service and at other 
times at the residence, 1214 Broad Street Ext., Elizabethton. 


    Active pallbearers will be: Gene Church, George Church, Kenneth Mann, 
Jerry Mann, Mike Culbert, John Rominger, and Mike Hardin. Honorary pallbearers 
will be: Conway Hyder, Ralph Davis, Earl Rock, Richard Arnett, Charlie 
Richardson, Gary Eggers, Harold Bowers, Jimmy Mann, Bob Benson, and Elwayne 
Peters. 


    For those who prefer, memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Grace 
Baptist Church Debt Retirement Fund, 1114 Broad Street Ext. Elizabethton, TN 
37643.
