DECIMA MEREDITH MCKINNEY 

SPRUCE PINE - Decima Meredith McKinney, 92, of Humpback Mountain Road, died 
Monday, Nov. 5, 2007. A native of Avery County, she was the daughter of the 
late James and Victoria Taylor Meredith, and wife of the late Brack McKinney. 
She was also preceded in death by nine brothers and sisters. She was a member 
of Altapass Baptist Church.

Survivors include three sons, Norris and Wayne McKinney, both of Spruce Pine, 
and Wade McKinney of Marion; two daughters, Gladys Saxon of Spruce Pine, and 
Vivian Johnson of South Bay, Fla.; three sisters, Hope Johnson and Imogene 
Owens, both of Newland, and Penny Carroway of Naples, Fla.; eight 
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Altapass Baptist Church. The 
Rev. Steve Sisk officiated. Burial was in Grassy Creek Baptist Church 
Cemetery. The family received friends from 5-7 p.m. Friday at the church. Webb 
Funeral Home in Spruce Pine assisted the family.
