AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - David Clay Mathes Sr., 1 Jul 2005

ASHEVILLE - David Clay Mathes Sr., of Aurora Drive, died Friday, July 1, 2005.
A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late Henry C. Mathes and
Mildred Francisco Mathes. He was a U.S. Army veteran.

Survivors include sons, David Mathes Jr. and Sean Mathes, both of Richmond,
VA, and Chaunce Porter, and Tiso and Dakota Mathes, all of Hampton, VA;
daughters, Monique Mathes of Hampton, VA, and Deseree and Isabella Mathes,
both of Spruce Pine; brothers, Martin Francisco of New York, NY, and Phillip
Mathes of Rock Hill, SC; sisters, Shiningwater Diabo of Ottawa, Canada, and
Yvette Mathes of Avery County; and numerous grandchildren. 

Funeral services were held at 6 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Hart Funeral
Service. The family received friends at the residence.
