AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Daniel Medley, 29 Apr 2005

Daniel Medley, 79, Division Street, Elizabethton, died Friday, April 29,
2005, following a brief illness.

Mr. Medley was a native of Avery County, N.C., and was a son of the late John
and Lizzie Freeman Medley. 

He was of the Baptist faith.

Mr. Medley was preceded in death by his wife, Florence Medley, in 1997; five
brothers, Dave, Monroe, William, Joe and Lester Medley; and three sisters,
Viola Walters, Lula Medley and Coralee Medley.

Survivors include one son, Randy Medley, and wife, Cheryl, Johnson City; two
daughters, Mary Phillips, Elizabethton, and Teresa Hester, and husband,
Michael, Jonesborough; five grandchildren, Renee Phillips, Haley Phillips,
Peyton Medley, Christopher Medley and Patricia Hardin; two sisters-in-law,
Lovie Medley, Avery County, N.C., and Pauline Medley, Elizabethton; a special
niece, Betty Fillers, Jonesborough; two nephews, Jerry Wise, Johnson City, and
Norris Medley, Avery County, NC; and a special friend, Tony Blakley,
Elizabethton.

The funeral service for Mr. Medley will be conducted Sunday, May 1, 2005, at 4
p.m. from the East Chapel of Appalachian Funeral Home with the Rev. Jane
Taylor officiating. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. in the East
Parlor of the funeral home. Special music will be provided by Tommy and Vickey
Austin. The graveside committal service will be held Monday, May 2, 2005, at
11 a.m. in Roselawn Memory Gardens. Those planning to attend the committal
service are asked to meet at the funeral home Monday by 10:30 a.m.
Pallbearers, who are requested to meet at the funeral home by 3:45 p.m., will
be Tim Phillips, Jody Saults, Tim Dwyer, Brian Carver, and Joe Fillers.
