AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Retta Church Nave, 27 Feb 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Retta C. Nave Retta Church Nave, 93, formerly of West F. Street, Elizabethton, died Thursday, February 27, 2003, at Hermitage Health Care Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Nave was a native of Avery County, N.C., and the daughter of the late Sidney and Martha Ellen Church. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Earnest C. Nave, and by three brothers, a sister and a grandson. Mrs. Nave had been a member of First Baptist Church of Elizabethton since 1939 and was a member of Eastern Star Sycamore Chapter No. 163. She worked in her husband's business, Nave Hardware. Survivors include a daughter and son-in-law, Wilma Jean and Henry Simmons, Johnson City; a son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Janis Nave, Elizabethton; seven grandchildren, Rebecca Magee, Aiken, S.C., the Rev. Mike Simmons, De Soto, Texas, Kathryn Folden, Portland, Ore., Nikki Engle, Erwin, Suzanne Artis, Atlanta, Ga., Johnny Wright and Wendy Wright Campbell, both of Elizabethton. Street, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, February 27, 2003, will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 5, in the Chapel of Peace of Tetrick Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike Simmons and the Rev. Brent Seals officiating. Interment will follow at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be John Wright, Greg Campbell, Brad Engle, Mark Artis, Marcus Simmons, Winston Church, Hansel Church and friends. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
