AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Clyde Vernon Ollis, 14 May 2004

ROXBORO - Clyde Vernon Ollis, 86, formerly of Avery County, died Friday, 
May 14, 2004 at Person Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late 
Council Vernon and Dixie Wise Ollis. He was retired from NCDOT after 30 
years and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of WWII. He was a member of 
Ca-Vel Baptist Church and after his retirement served as church custodian 
for over 15 years.

Survivors include his wife, Zadie Vanier Ollis of the home; one son, Macon 
Bailey Ollis of Hillsborough; a daughter, Marnie Rogers of Hillsborough; 
two brothers, Harmon Ollis of Morganton, and Hayes Ollis of Florence, SC; 
four grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m. Sunday at Ca-Vel Baptist Church. 
Revs. Dr. Tobie Stone and Carl Belcher officiated. Graveside rites were 
held at 3 p.m. Monday at Green Valley Baptist Church Cemetery in Spruce 
Pine. The family received friends after the service. Memorial donations 
may be made to Ca-Vel Baptist Church, 1885 N. Main Street, Roxboro, NC 
27573.
