EFFIE JONES OSBORNE
NEWLAND – Effie Jones Osborne, 81, of Gragg Hollow Road, died Wednesday, 
August 22, 2001. She was the daughter of the late Raymond Sally Hinkle Jones 
and was a member of Whites Memorial Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Dave Osborne; daughters, Lina Osborne and 
Patricia Pitman, both of Spruce Pine, and Lucille Bumgarner of Newland; sons, 
Raymond Osborne of Canton, OH, and Lewie Osborne of Newland; sisters, Pansy 
Hughes of Newland, Edith King and Myrtle Gardner, both of Lexington, and 
Thelma Freeman of Seattle, WA; brothers, Carl, Elmer and Billy Jones, all of
Lexington; 23 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren; and eight great great 
grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Whites Memorial Baptist Church. 
Revs. Harold Dellinger, Raymond Turbyfill and Jude Hughes officiated. Burial 
followed in the church cemetery.  The family received friends from 7-9 p.m. at 
Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine.
