John R. Patton

NEWLAND, N.C. -- John Richard Patton, 85, Winters Road, Elk Park, died 
Wednesday, December 11, 2002, in a Johnson City, Tenn., hospital.
Mr. Patton was a native of Avery County and a son of the late John and 
Bessie Patton.
Mr. Patton was the owner of John Patton Grocery in Elk Park. He was a 
member of Elk Park Methodist Church and a member of Cranberry Lodge 
#598 A.F.&A.M.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Barnett Patton, Roan Mountain, Tenn., 
and a niece, Glenda Gouge, Roan Mountain, Tenn.
Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home of Newland, (828) 733-2121, is serving the 
Patton family.

PATTON -- Funeral services for John Richard Patton, 85, Winters Road, 
Elk Park, N.C., who died Wednesday, December 11, 2002, will be conducted 
at 7 p.m. Friday, December 13, in the Grandfather Chapel of Reins-
Sturdivant Funeral Home with the Rev. Hugh Hall and the Rev. Reed 
Callahan officiating. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, 
December 14, at the Banner Cemetery in Elk Park. The family will receive 
friends at the funeral home on Friday from 6 p.m. until the service hour.
