AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Ruby Lee Watson Pearson, 7 Nov 2004 ----¤¤¤---- Mrs. Ruby Lee Watson Pearson, 84, Greggs Branch Road, Butler, died Sunday, November 7, 2004 in the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Avery County, North Carolina, she was the daughter of the late Dan and Doxie Reece Watson. She was a devoted wife, mom, and homemaker. She was a member of Sugar Grove Baptist Church, Butler. She was preceded in death by two granddaughters, Susann and Sandy Pearson, and a sister, Marie Watson. Survivors include her husband of 64 years, William Lawrence Pearson, of the home; six children, Billy Pearson and his wife Lorean, Elizabethton; Jerry Pearson; Paulette and her husband Walter Norris; Anne and her husband Lyle Wolfe; Debra and her husband Jim Greenwell, all of Butler, and Reta and her husband Jay Presnell, Banner Elk, N.C.; three grandsons and their wives, Major Terrance and Becky Pearson; Joel and Denise Norris, and Alan and Mindy Pearson; one granddaughter and her husband, Miranda and Andy Lowe; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Glady Hall, Butler; one half-brother and his wife, Harold and Judy Watson, Butler, and a special aunt, Hazel Cable, Butler. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Lee Watson Pearson will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 10, 2004 in Sugar Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Douglas Ranshaw, Rev. Ray Greene and Rev. Bill McGuire officiating. Music will be under the direction of Joel Norris, Ray Don Markland and The Sugar Grove Trio. Burial will follow the church service in Sugar Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Walter Norris, Lyle Wolfe, Jim Greenwell, Jay Presnell, Joel Norris, Alan Pearson, Major Terrance Pearson and Andy Lowe. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Johnson County Rescue Squad. The family will receive friends at the Sugar Grove Baptist Church from noon until 2 p.m. on Wednesday or at the residence, 194 Greggs Branch Road, Butler, at any time.
