Edith G. Tolley 


    Mrs. Edith G. Tolley, 86, 1018 Broad Street, Elizabethton, went home to be 
with her Lord, on Friday, April 06, 2007, at Sycamore Shoals Hospital, 
unexpectedly. 


    Mrs. Tolley was the daughter of the late Hobert Hampton and Mina Smith 
Hampton Bare, and was a native of Avery County, N.C. She had lived in Carter 
County for the last 56 years, and was a homemaker who loved cooking, canning, 
and her flowers. She was a member of the First Free Will Baptist Church of 
Elizabethton, and attended First Free Will Baptist Church of Johnson City. 


    In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her step-mother, 
Edith Williams Hampton; a brother Bo Williams; and four half-brothers. 


    Mrs. Tolley is survived by her husband of 64 years, Harvey D. Tolley of 
the home; two daughters and sons-in-law Carolyn and Bart Barton, Elizabethton; 
and Judy and Roger White, Johnson City; five step-grandchildren; several step 
great-grandchildren; two sisters, Margaret Moore, Salem, Va., and Cleta Jones, 
Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister-in-law, Beulah Williams, Elizabethton; and 
special loved ones, Wendy Perry and Tina Hardin both of Elizabethton. Several 
nieces and nephews also survive. 


    The Celebration of Life service for Mrs. Tolley will be conducted on 
Sunday, April 8, 2007, at 4 p.m. in the Riverside Chapel, Tetrick Funeral 
Home, Elizabethton, with the Rev. Kenneth Grindstaff officiating. The Family 
will receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, prior to 
the service and at other times at the residence, 1018 Broad Street, 
Elizabethton. The graveside service and interment will be conducted Monday, 
April 9, 2007, at 1 p.m. at Happy Valley Memorial Park. Honorary pallbearers 
will be friends and neighbors. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at 
the cemetery at 12:55 p.m. Monday. Condolences may be sent to the family
