MARY LOU TOLLEY 

BURNSVILLE - Mary Lou Buchanan Tolley, 81, of the Arbuckle community, died 
Sunday, Sept. 16, 2007 at her home. A native of Avery County, she was the 
daughter of the late Mart and Doshia Hollis Buchanan, and wife of the late 
Albert Tolley. She was also preceded in death by four sisters, Lucy and Pearl 
Buchanan, Dove Griffith and Essie Smith; and three brothers, Heart and Stokes 
Buchanan, and Herman Burleson. She was a member of Estatoe Church of God.

Survivors include a son, Joseph Tolley of the home; two daughters, Sue Fox of 
Forest City, and Cathy Nelson of Burnsville; two grandchildren; and one great-
granddaughter. 

Funeral services were held at 8 p.m. Wednesday in the chapel of Holcombe 
Brothers Funeral Home. The Revs. Kenneth Nelson, Felicia Fox and Lawrence 
Glenn officiated. Burial was in Big Crabtree Baptist Church Cemetery. The 
family received friends from 6 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at the 
funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Estatoe Church of God Building 
Fund, c/o Morris McKinney, 1480 Humpback Mountain Road, Spruce Pine, NC 28777; 
or Hospice of Yancey County, 856 Georges Fork Road, Burnsville, NC 28714.
