REUBEN NOAH TRIVETT 

SPRUCE PINE - Reuben Noah Trivett, 78, of Gouges Creek, died Friday, Aug. 18, 
2006 at his home. A native of Avery County, he was the son of the late Sam and 
Rose McClellan Trivett. He was also preceded in death by one brother, Junior 
Trivett. He retired from Mayland Stone Company in Spruce Pine as a foreman and 
mechanic. He was a co-captain of the Mitchell County Radio Patrol when it was 
first formed.

Survivors include his wife, Bertha Wilson Trivett of the home; three 
daughters, Lib McKinney and Betty McBee, both of Spruce Pine, and Pat Byrd of 
Bakersville; two sons, Bruce Trivett and Bryan Trivett, both of Spruce Pine; 
two sisters, Frances Woody of Newland and Maude Thomas of Spruce Pine; one 
brother, Phillip Trivett of Spruce Pine; seven grandchildren; nine great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday in the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel 
of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. The family received friends 6-8 p.m. 
Sunday. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Mitchell County, P.O. Box 
38, Spruce Pine, NC 28777.
