Larry L. Turbyfill 


    Larry Lane Turbyfill, 73, 365 Burbank Road, Roan Mountain, died Wednesday, 
April 25, 2007, at Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. 


    Mr. Turbyfill was the son of the late Conley and Viva Davis Turbyfill and 
was a native of Cranberry, in Avery County, N.C. 


    Mr. Turbyfill was a retired truck driver and was of the Baptist faith. 


    Survivors include his wife, Shirley Turbyfill, of the home; two sons and a 
daughter-in-law, Braden Turbyfill of Akron, Ohio, and Byran and Beth Turbyfill 
of Ridgeway, Va.; grandchildren, Crystal Turbyfill of Akron, Ohio, Jeremy 
Turbyfill, serving with the U.S. Air Force in Texas, and his fiancée Katie 
Zehner, Daranda Byrd and her fiancé Josh McCoury of Roan Mountain, and Mark 
Byrd of Roan Mountain; and a step-daughter and her husband, Kim and Randy Byrd 
of Roan Mountain. Several cousins also survive. 


    The funeral service for Mr. Turbyfill will be conducted at 8 p.m. Friday, 
April 27, in the Rhododendron Chapel of Tetrick Funeral Home, Roan Mountain, 
with Rev. Richard Blevins and Rev. Tull Oaks officiating. Music will under the 
direction of the Burbank Freewill Baptist Church Quartet. The family will 
receive friends in the funeral home chapel from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, prior to 
the service. The graveside service and interment will be conducted at 11 a.m. 
Saturday, April 28, at Greer Cemetery in Roan Mountain. Those wishing to 
attend are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Saturday to go in 
procession to the cemetery. Active pallbearers will be T.V. Barnett, Randy 
Byrd, Keith Hughes, Tom Ashley, Josh McCoury and Jack Bennett. Condolences may
