MITCHELL COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Helen Perry Taunton, 16 Jan 2003 ----¤¤¤¤---- Helen P. Taunton Mrs. Helen Perry Taunton, 82, Fitzsimmons Hill Road, Elizabethton, died Thursday, January 16, 2003 in the Johnson City Medical Center. A native of Avery County, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Joseph Walter Andes, Sr. and Elizabeth Potter Andes. She had lived a number of years in Elizabethton. She was retired from Quick Cleaners and formerly worked at several restaurants in Elizabethton. She attended the Church of the Living Savior. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Joe and Charles Andes; two sisters, Flora Slagle and Juanita Carroll, and two great grandchildren, Morley Skeens and Scotty Perry. Survivors include her husband, Larry M. Taunton; two daughters, Elizabeth Ann Eastes, Lafayette, La., and Sonja Perkins, Johnson City; four sons, Roy, Clarence, Jerry and Terry Perry, all of Elizabethton; two step- daughters, Laurale Hopkins, Salem, Ore., and April Ball, Elizabethton; 10 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and six step-grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Memorial Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements. TAUNTON -- Funeral services for Helen Perry Taunton, 82, Fitzsimmons Hill Road, Elizabethton, who died Thursday, January 16, 2003, will be conducted at 8 p.m. Monday, January 20, 2003, in Memorial Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Melvin Ferrell officiating. Graveside service and interment will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 21, 2003 in the Mountain Home National Cemetery with the Rev. Harold E. Bahlon officiating. Active pallbearers, who are requested to assemble at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. Tuesday will be Michael Perry, Scott Perry, Pat Perry, Dale Bowling, Terry Perry, Jr., and Jody Hoover. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Sheryl Pack, Tommy Perkins, John Eastes, David Brown, Dale Bowling, Sr., Benny Buck, and John Froggett. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the funeral home. Friends may also call at her residence or the residences of any of the children.
