AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Finley Clayton Trivette, 29 Jul 2004 --------------¤¤¤¤¤¤-------------- Finley C. Trivette NEWLAND, N.C. -- Finley Clayton Trivette, 82, of Beech Mountain Road, Elk Park, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at his residence. A native of Avery County, he was a son of the late Dudley and Winnie Norwood Trivette. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Loy Margaret Trivette. He was a member of Beech Mountain Baptist Church. Finley was a master stone mason and farmer. He loved the outdoors and his family. He was especially proud to have served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He loved to tell his "war tales" to everyone. He could still tie each knot he had learned in the Navy with his grandson Josh, who is in the Coast Guard. His best times were in his garden with his grandson Mark, in whom he instilled the love of farming. He will be missed by each member of his family and anyone who knew him. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Jackie and John Hughes, Newland; son, Johnny Trivette, Newland; two brothers, Allen Trivette, Elk Park, and Carson Trivette, Neva, Tenn.; grandchildren, Melony Hughes, Newland, Joshua Hughes, Newport, Gabriel Hughes, Newland, Mark Trivette, Elk Park, and Elizabeth Trivette, Elk Park; and great-grandchildren, Nolan Hughes, Newport, Holden Hughes, Newport, and Reagan Hughes, Newland. Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 1, from the Beech Mountain Baptist Church with the Rev. Dennis Church and the Rev. David Burnop officiating. Interment will follow in the Trivette Cemetery with military rites provided by the Pat Ray Post of the VFW. Serving as pallbearers will be William Gray, Michael Hagie, Bruce Guy, Rick Hamby, Eddie Storie, Jerry Perkins, Ted Harmon, Pat Estep and Bill Cook. The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
