BERNICE WATSON VANCE
CANTON, OH - Bernice Watson Vance, 82, died Saturday, July 27, 2002, at 
her home following a brief battle with cancer. Born in Avery County, she 
was the daughter of the late Samuel and Maude Snyder Watson, and wife of 
the late David R. Vance. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, 
Carroll and T.J. Watson. She lived in Canton for over 40 years and attended 
Canton Baptist Temple. 
Survivors include two daughters, Ceccy Mossgrove and Connie Varian, both of 
East Canton, OH; three sons, Sam Vance and Dean Vance of Canton, OH and Jim 
Vance of Carrollton, OH; four sisters, Clarice Wiseman, Faye Hughes, Bootsie 
Young and Tootsie Vaughn, all of Avery County; two brothers, June Watson of 
Spruce Pine, and Ralph Watson of Roan Mountain, TN; six grandchildren; six 
great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Private family graveside services were held Wednesday at Sunset Hills Memorial 
Garden in Canton. Rev. Delaney Young officiated. Myers-Kreighbaum-Sanders 
Funeral Home in Ohio was in charge of arrangements.
