Galen R. Wiseman Of Spear Succumbs
	Galen R. Wiseman died in the Walter Reed Hospital, Washington, D.C., 
last Wednesday, December 17 of cancer of the stomach.  He was 75 years, 3 
months and 4 days old.
	He leaves 6 children, Raleigh Wiseman, of Houston Texas; Mrs. W.S. 
Sprague of Johnson City, Tenn., Rider Wiseman of Long Island, N.Y.; Mrs. 
Charles Hartley of Elk Park; Mrs. Edward Aldridge of Spear, N.C. and Sam 
Hauston Wiseman, a cadet in West Point; two brothers, Robert A. Houston of 
Senia and James M. Houston of Spear; two sister, Mr. Josie Benfield and Mr.  
J.P. Hughes, both of Spear.
	The deceased would not agree to go to the hospital until five weeks 
before his death according to members of his family.  
	He will be greatly missed in this community.
	Funeral services for the deceased were held at Arlington Cemetery where 
he was buried.
