AVERY COUNTY, NC - OBITUARIES - Viola Osborne Webb, 2 Aug 2004

NEWLAND - Viola Osborne Webb, 96, of the Roaring Creek community, 
died Monday Aug. 2, 2004. A native of Hampton, TN, she was the 
daughter of the late John and Polly McKinney Osborne, and wife of 
the late Charlie Webb. She was also preceded in death by eight 
children, two brothers, and two sisters. She was a member of Roaring 
Creek Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Alva Twiggs of the home, and Evelyn 
Hughes of Roaring Creek; two sons, Byron Webb of Cranberry Gap, and 
Charlie Webb of Roan Mountain, TN; 13 grandchildren; 20 great 
grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. 
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Grindstaff 
Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine. Rev. Russell 
Hoilman officiated. Burial was in Hillcrest Cemetery. The family 
received friends from 1 p.m. until the service hour Wednesday at 
the funeral home.
