She was the daughter of the late James Milton and Daisy Burleson Houston, and wife of the late Lee White. She was also preceded in death by an infant daughter, Carolyn Annett White; and one grandson, Richard “Hoss” Ollis. A member of Pine Grove Methodist Church, she was one of the founding members of Green Valley Community Center and a member of the Happy Lookers Club. Survivors include a son, Charles Lee White of Asheville; two daughter, Nina McKinney of Spruce Pine, and Marie Bost of Statesville; one sister, Mable Vance of Newland; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Pine Grove Methodist Church. Revs. Jim Durham, David Hopson and Jock Ollis officiated. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 12 noon until the service hour on Tuesday at the church.
