January 21, 1712 Capt Thomas Brown brought into court the will of Jon Cogdle but it was not allowed by the court to be good or authentic because John did not name an executor so was cut out. On the same day, the two sons of John Cogdle, Charles and George Cogdell chose George Bell to be their guardian and became his indentured servants, bound to George Bell until they were 21 years old. During the time of their indenture to Bell, he was supposed to teach them or cause them to be taught to read and write.
